The Institute of Regional Studies Peshawar conducted a comprehensive survey from January 22,
2024, to February 3, 2024, to gain insights into public opinions. The primary focus of the survey was to understand the usage of smartphones, engagement with social media, and preferences for specific social media platforms.
Survey Overview:
The survey encompassed a diverse age group, ranging from 18 to 90 years, and responses from a total of 1700 participants, providing a diverse representation of public sentiments. The participants were classified into the following age groups:
- 18-24 years: 14%
- 25-30 years: 22%
- 31-40 years: 18%
- 41-50 years: 16%
- 51-60 years: 12%
- 61-70 years: 10%
- 71-80 years: 6%
- 81-90 years: 2%
Survey Findings:
Smartphone Ownership:
- 83% of respondents reported owning a smartphone.
- 14% of respondents indicated that they do not have a smartphone.
Social Media Usage:
- 80% of participants reported actively using social media platforms.
- 20% of respondents stated that they do not use any social media.
Preferred Social Media Platforms:
- Facebook: 78% of respondents use Facebook.
- WhatsApp: 75% of participants use WhatsApp.
- YouTube: 35% of respondents reported using YouTube.
- TikTok: 45% of participants engage with TikTok.
- Snapchat: 24% of respondents use Snapchat.
- Instagram: 30% of participants use Instagram.
Key Observations:
The majority of respondents own smartphones, indicating the widespread adoption of mobile technology. Social media usage is prevalent, with 80% of respondents actively engaging with various platforms. Facebook and WhatsApp emerge as the most popular social media platforms among the surveyed population.
YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram also enjoy substantial usage, reflecting the diversity of social media preferences.
